Royal Palm Trees

Royal palms, scientifically known as Roystonea regia, are majestic and statuesque trees native to the Caribbean and parts of Central America. These palms are characterized by their tall, straight trunks that can soar to heights of 50 feet (15 meters) or more, topped by a crown of large, glossy green pinnate leaves that can span up to 13 feet (4 meters) in diameter. The leaves are composed of numerous leaflets that radiate from a central stalk, creating a graceful and symmetrical canopy. Royal palms produce small creamy-white flowers in large clusters that emerge from among the leaves, followed by small, round fruits that turn from green to black as they ripen. Known for their striking appearance and regal stature, Royal palms are popular ornamental trees in tropical and subtropical landscapes worldwide, adding a sense of elegance and grandeur to parks, avenues, and large estates. They are also valued for their resilience to hurricanes and salt spray, making them suitable choices for coastal regions.

Cold Hardiness:

Royal Palm Trees are reasonably cold hardy down to approximately 28° F. USDA plant hardiness zone 10a.
