Queen Palm Trees

Queen palms, scientifically known as Syagrus romanzoffiana, are graceful and popular ornamental palms native to South America but widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. These palms typically grow to heights of 50 to 80 feet (15 to 25 meters), featuring a single, slender trunk adorned with smooth, grey bark. The pinnate leaves are bright green, reaching lengths of 10 to 13 feet (3 to 4 meters), and are composed of numerous arching leaflets arranged in a feather-like pattern. Queen palms produce small, creamy-yellow flowers that grow in clusters on long stalks, followed by small, orange-red fruits that are about 0.8 inches (2 centimeters) in diameter. Known for their rapid growth and tolerance to a variety of soils, they are often planted along streets, in parks, and in residential landscapes for their attractive foliage and elegant appearance. Queen palms are also prized for their ability to withstand wind and salt spray, making them suitable for coastal environments.

Cold Hardiness:

Queen Palm Trees are cold hardy down to approximately 20° F. USDA plant hardiness zone 9B.
