Foxtail Palm Trees

The foxtail palm produces white flowers that emerge from the base of the crownshaft. The leaves display various shades of green, ranging from deep green to light green. Its commonly known Australian-English name comes from the foliage's resemblance to a fox's tail in shape. The fruits are approximately 2 inches long, starting out olive green to green and turning orange-red when they ripen. Similar to the king palm, the foxtail palm trunk is smooth, slender, and self-cleaning. It typically grows a single, double, or triple trunk that is somewhat spindle-shaped to columnar, reaching heights of about 30 feet (10 meters). The trunk features closely spaced rings and initially has a dark grey to light grey color that gradually transitions to white. The crownshaft of the foxtail palm is light to bright green and slightly swollen at the base.

Cold Hardiness:

Foxtail Palm Trees are cold hardy down to approximately 30° F. USDA plant hardiness zone 10 to 11.
