Christmas Palm Trees

Christmas palms, scientifically known as Veitchia merrillii, are popular ornamental trees prized for their elegant appearance and suitability in tropical and subtropical landscapes. These palms typically reach heights of 20 (6 meters) with a slender trunk topped by a crown of gracefully arching, pinnate leaves. The leaves are glossy green, growing up to 10 feet (3 meters) long, and give the tree a feathery, lush appearance. In winter, clusters of bright red fruits resembling Christmas ornaments adorn the tree, hence its common name. Native to the Philippines, Christmas palms thrive in warm, humid climates and are favored for their resilience to wind and salt spray, making them ideal choices for coastal regions. They add a tropical touch to gardens, streetscapes, and resort areas, where their vibrant fruits and graceful foliage create a festive and inviting atmosphere year-round.

Cold Hardiness:

Christmas Palm Trees are reasonably cold hardy down to approximately 30° F. USDA plant hardiness zone 10b.
