Chinese Fan Palm Trees

Chinese Fan palms, scientifically named Livistona chinensis, are notable for their elegant fan-shaped leaves and tropical appearance. Originating from East Asia, these palms typically reach heights of 30 feet (9 meters) with a slender trunk that is light to dark grey in color and adorned with distinctive leaf scars. The leaves, spanning up to 6.5 feet (2 meters) in diameter, are deeply divided into numerous segments that radiate from a central point, giving them a unique fan-like structure. The foliage is glossy green and adds a lush, tropical feel to landscapes. Chinese Fan palms produce small, creamy-yellow flowers held in large clusters, which give way to small, round fruits that ripen to a dark blue-black color. Known for their resilience to various soil types and moderate drought tolerance, they are popular choices for tropical and subtropical gardens, where they provide both shade and aesthetic appeal.

Cold Hardiness:

Chinese Fan Palm Trees are reasonably cold hardy down to approximately 20° F. USDA plant hardiness zone 9A to 11.
